Slide Rock State Park
6871 N. Highway 89A Sedona, AZ 86336 928-282-3034 ![]() As summer in the Desert brings that familiar fry-an-egg-on-the-sidewalk heat back to the Valley, hot bodies will head north for cool bodies of water. One cool getaway can be found in the refreshing splashdowns at Oak Creek's Slide Rock State Park. Mother Nature provided this 43-acre naturally occurring recreation area with an incomparable 30-foot water slide. Access from the designated parking lot features a lovely walk through an apple orchard dating back to 1912. Be sure to wear old sneakers and rugged shorts or denim jeans - this ride can be bumpy and it'll skin your hide if you're not careful! Four campgrounds sit within five miles of the park in addition to Sedona's lodging, restaurants, and shops, all less than ten miles from the site. The slide and its refreshingly cool water (65 degrees in the summer) are a major Memorial Day attraction, so if you are camping, pop your tent as early as Wednesday or Thursday.
