At dawn, Patriots Square Park is all grass, chirping birds, and park benches. But come noontime, it's bologna sandwiches, briefcases, and brown-bag business lunches. This two and a half acre park framed by downtown cultural centers, is a clean and refreshingly welcoming city park listed as one of the Phoenix Points of Pride. Each Wednesday from October through April, Patriots Square Park serves as a marketplace. Vending veggies, baked goods, and local handmade arts and crafts, the Patriots Square Marketplace pumps blood into the heart of Phoenix. The open- air performing arts stage hosts midday and nighttime entertainment and the park welcomes city cultural celebrations like Cinco de Mayo and St. PatrickÂ’s Day. Trees sway, grass grows, and this public park provides a little recreation in a busy downtown metropolis.
