Camelback Mountain is not only the Valley's most conspicuous landmark, it is also one of the most sought-after hiking destinations in Phoenix. This 75.8-acre park is known for its breathtaking scenery and moderate to challenging hiking trails. Most definitely an out-of-town guest must-see, Camelback Mountain is a Phoenix Point of Pride with its distinctive two-humped camel shape and "Praying Monk" rock formation.
Rocky and red, this magnificent mountain and its recreation area provide scenic mountain climbing, an information ramada and more strategic climbs for the experienced hiker. A desert mountain preserve, Echo Canyon has not been "civilized" by fountains, playgrounds and basketball courts. It's a place to see nature, from cottontail rabbits to the occasional rattlesnake (always be watchful), and to experience the beauty and challenges of the Sonoran landscape.
